JUR Staff Members

Our journal staff consists of undergraduate students from Colorado State University, as well as satellite editors from around the globe. We are the journal "For Undergraduates and by Undergraduates" which we take to heart. Our entire staff is composed of students working toward an undergraduate degree or recent graduates pursing graduate or professional programs. Ranging from English to Engineering, our diverse background allow us to hold a high level of quality for publication across all disciplines.

Abi Somers - EDITOR In Chief

Abi is a fourth-year student at Colorado State University, double majoring in biomedical sciences and French. She hopes to go to medical school to become a surgeon and use her skills in French to work abroad in a francophone country. Abi has a deep love for travel and experiencing new cultures and even spent a semester abroad in France. When she is not traveling or working through her piles of homework, Abi enjoys running, playing with her two dogs, or discovering a new recipe to cook.


Alex Silverhart - Managing Editor

Alex is a fourth-year student at Colorado State University (CSU) studying Biomedical Sciences with a minor in Spanish. His aspirations include becoming a physician and adding to the vast wealth of knowledge in medicine. On the CSU campus, Alex is determined to improve the public health of the student population by expanding education efforts and improving access to healthcare. When he’s not drowning in homework, Alex enjoys skiing the slopes of Breckenridge with his family, rollerskating to Bonnie Tyler, and working with patients as a Certified Nursing Assistant.


Alexa Holmes - Associate eDitor

Alexa is a second-year student at Colorado State University majoring in English, with concentrations in creative writing and rhetoric, and minoring in French. She hopes to work in literary publishing, where she will eagerly learn from and support writers, and to continue developing her own voice through creative writing projects. When not poring over texts for class or working as a consultant at the Writing Center on campus, she can be found writing poetry, enjoying coffee, and venturing outdoors.


Isabella sink - associate editor

Isabella is a third year student at Colorado State University double majoring in English and Philosophy with concentrations in Writing Rhetoric & Literacy and General Philosophy. After graduation she plans on becoming a copy editor and pursuing philosophy further in other aspects of learning/life. She loves working with writers in order to better their writing as well as her editing as often as possible. In her free time she enjoys snowboarding, going to concerts, and reading. 


Jamison Taylor - associate editor

Jamison is a first-year student at Colorado State University pursuing a dual degree in Languages, Literatures, and Cultures for French and Spanish and International Studies with a minor in Cultures and Linguistics. On campus, she is also involved in Arabic Club. After graduating, Jamison plans to either teach English abroad and explore the world's rich linguistic and cultural diversity or pursue a master’s in Applied Linguistics. In her free time, you can find her learning new languages, reading, crocheting, or doing yoga!


Laura Bussard - associate editor

Laura is a second-year student at Colorado State University, majoring in Political Science with a double minor in Zoology and Global Environmental Sustainability. She hopes to have a career involved with animals and protecting the environment. She enjoys working with new writers and is an engaged community member within CSU in multiple ways, from ASCSU to volunteering at the Johnson Family Equine Hospital.  When not in class or studying, you’ll find her doing something outdoors (especially skiing or hiking), cuddling with her dogs, calling her family, or riding horses. 


Sophie Kiehl - associate editor

Sophie is a third year student at Colorado State University studying biomedical sciences with a concentration in microbiology and infectious disease. Her research focuses on vaccine development and viral RNA decay. She plans to pursue biomedical science in a Ph.D. program. Sophie is passionate about engaging with prospective and current undergraduates and does this as a recruitment ambassador and club member. When she isn't running experiments, she is reading epic fantasy or puzzling over a challenging sudoku.


Paris kiehl - associate editor

Paris is a third-year student at Colorado State University studying Biomedical Sciences with a concentration in Microbiology and Infectious Disease. She is a dedicated undergraduate researcher and college ambassador. After graduation, she plans to get a Ph.D. studying disease mechanisms and treatments. In her free time, she enjoys reading, playing volleyball, and spending time with family.  


Terrie Farley - Associate eDitor

Terrie Farley is a fourth year student at Colorado State University studying History and Italian. She has academic interests in both archival work and translating. Terrie is heavily involved on campus and spends a lot of her time at the University Archives in Morgan Library. When she doesn’t have her head buried in her textbooks, she enjoys exploring nature, watching documentaries, and hanging out with her golden retriever named Maple.
