Submission Guidelines for Artwork

 

HOW DO I SUBMIT?

1. Be sure you thoroughly review all the guidelines on this page.

2. To submit artwork, complete and submit this permission to publish form electronically.

WHAT KIND OF WORK DOES JUR ACCEPT?

We accept all kinds of work! This includes but is not limited to:

  • Photography

  • Visual art/graphic desing

  • Paintings/3D art (requires multiple angles in photo submissions)

Does it cost anything to submit my Work?

It sure doesn’t! Submitting to and publish with the journal is free, no string attached.

 

AM I ELIGIBLE TO SUBMIT?

Authors must be enrolled at an accredited institution of higher education at the time the submitted work was created. Students who have recently graduated may submit work up to one year after the date of their graduation.

Why should I publish my work with JUR?

We accept work from all disciplines.

  • Becoming published is a résumé-builder for employment and graduate school.

  • You will gain valuable experience with the publication process.

HOW LONG DOES THE decision PROCESS TAKE?

All artwork is decided immediately before publication, usually in April or May. Because of this, the decision time varies greatly depending on when you submit.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE MY WORK?

Artist’s Statement

  • Use this as an opportunity to describe the meaning of your work and its relevance. This is open-ended and can address any topic you like, such as your inspiration or creative process.

  • Please keep it to the approximate length of an abstract (less than ~250 words).

  • Be very attentive to detail regarding grammar, language, and syntax.

Medium, Dimensions, and Year

  • This information will be published alongside the artwork.

Submissions Format

  • Artwork must be sent in a .pdf format. 3D artwork must have multiple images from different angles.

  • If possible, scan the artwork to be as high of quality as possible.

  • If this is not possible, please attempt for pictures to be of the highest quality. If possible, be taken with a professional camera/background. If a transparent background is not possible, please try to crop as much as possible.

 Other Suggestions

  • Research our journal – spend time reviewing our past publications and be familiar with all of our policies.

  • We encourage you to ask your colleagues, supervisors, and/or peers to review your work before you submit.

  • Be prepared to respond promptly to emails from your editor.
