Our journal staff consists of undergraduate students from Colorado State University, as well as satellite editors from around the globe. We are the journal "For Undergraduates and by Undergraduates" which we take to heart, as our entire staff is exclusively students working toward an undergraduate degree. Ranging from English to Engineering, our diverse background allow us to hold a high level of quality for publication across all disciplines.
Ryan Rykhus – Editor in Chief
Ryan is a senior engineering student majoring in Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering. He is originally from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and loves to visit the family farm whenever he can. Outside of the office, he enjoys numerous outdoor activities, but also puts his studies at the top of his list. Ryan hopes to soon be working in quality control or regulatory affairs for a medical device company.
Katie Brown – Managing Editor
Katie is a junior currently pursuing degrees in Biomedical Sciences and Microbiology. She actively studies antibiotic resistance with her research lab, and hopes to later attend medical school in pursuit of an MD. When she’s not immersed in science, she can be found practicing aikido, rock climbing, blues dancing, or climbing mountains in Colorado!
ALex FrickenStein – Associate Editor and Director of Training
Alex was born in Colorado Springs, Colorado. He is currently pursuing a degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering. He enjoys gaming, learning, fencing, and working with Starwatcher Studios, a film society.
Logan mcCoy – Associate Editor
Logan is a third-year molecular biology student, and second-year associate editor with JUR. He hopes that one day, new methods of working with information will help cure disease.
Reagan fitzke – Publishing Associate
Reagan is a second year at Colorado State University studying Clinical/Counseling Psychology with a minor in Applied Statistics. She hopes to attend graduate school after completing her undergraduate studies, and pursue a PhD in clinical or counseling psychology. She also enjoys painting, drawing, and the occasional photography outing in her free time.
Jordan Becker – SATELLITE Editor
Jordan is from Washington, D.C. and is studying Psychology at the University of Idaho. He plans to pursue his DPT and obtain a Ph.D in neuromotor science. He is passionate about research and wishes to pursue a career in academia. In his free time, Jordan competes in Olympic lifting and enjoys good coffee.
Cassie Gardner – SATELLITE Editor
Cassie grew up in Nisswa, Minnesota. She is pursuing majors in Political Science and Spanish, and hopes to attend law school in the future. Cassie is a dance instructor, and also enjoys coffee, hiking, and spending time with friends.
Emma Curran – SATELLITE Editor
Emma is a final year student studying Philosophy, Logic and Scientific Method at the London School of Economics and Political Science. Her research interests are predominately Applied Ethics, Meta-Ethics and Political Philosophy.
Sophie Gullett – Graduate Advisor
Sophie is a native Coloradoan who is currently pursuing a PhD in psychology at University of Denver. She enjoys sewing funky clothing, collecting junk, and writing poetry.
Melissa Edwards – Graduate Advisor
Melissa is a recent CSU PhD graduate receiving her terminal degree in Cell & Molecular Biology. Originally from Columbus, Ohio, and with family across the states, Melissa enjoys travelling and road trips. Additionally, she is an avid bicyclist, reader, and singer. Broadening her horizons further, she dabbles in poetry, practicing the romance languages, and learning to play the guitar. She describes herself as an anthropologist at heart and a scientist by trade.
